David Ames runs a non-profit organization called From Gainesville With Love. FGWL is primarily a partnership between artists in Gainesville, FL and Jacmel, Haiti. Since 2010, he has helped improve the relationship between our sister cities by bringing artists and volunteers from Gainesville to Jacmel, as well as to help bring artists and art from Jacmel to Gainesville to help educate both communities about each other. FGWL has been and will continue to be involved in community projects in congruence with other non-profits, such as the Barrels of Hope earthbag build, in which the group helped build and train contractors to build low cost, durable housing solutions. This is just one of the many ways in which David Ames personally has reached out to our community as well as the people of Jacmel. It is a wonderful non-profit and he runs it entirely with no compensation, sometimes working two jobs to help support himself and his passion. It is a selfless cause, and as the name of the organization suggests, it is an act of Love.
