Sexual battery charges have been filed against two men who allegedly raped two women they met at a Gainesville bar, bought drinks for and invited to a nearby apartment, Gainesville police reported.
Arrested were Carlos Gabriel Telleria, 21, of 101 NW 10th St.; and Gustavo Adolfo Herdocia, 26, of 1630 NW 2nd Ave.
Telleria has been admitted as a fall student at the University of Florida, transferring from Santa Fe College, while Herdocia is a Santa Fe student, officials at the schools said.
The incident happened about 3 a.m. on Aug. 9 and began earlier at 101 Cantina, a bar in the 1600 block of West University Avenue.
Police reported that two women met Telleria and Herdocia at the bar and that Herdocia was able to get the women wristbands so they could drink alcohol, the arrest reports state. Police later said the women were not old enough to legally drink alcohol.
The women each had one drink and, shortly before closing, had consumed only about half of the drinks but felt completely intoxicated, police said.
Telleria and Herdocia persuaded the women to walk about a block to Herdocia's apartment, the reports state.
Both women told police they awoke from being unconscious about 3 a.m., the reports state. Herdocia was having intercourse with one of the women, while Telleria was having intercourse with the other on the same bed, police reported.
The women describe comprehending what was happening but being unable to move their bodies. The men continued to force the women into various sexual acts in different rooms before one of the women was able to move, got her clothes and eventually assisted the other woman in getting to their car.
Several days later, one of the women received assistance at a women's center in Jacksonville while another got an examination at a hospital.
One of the women had the phone numbers for the men and recorded calls in which both men admitted to having sex with the women but denied spiking their drinks.
Under police questioning, Telleria admitted that he and Herdocia had sex with the women, saying he took advantage of one of the women.
The report states Telleria suspected Herdocia might have drugged the women but wasn't certain.
Herdocia asked to speak with an attorney upon his arrest, according to his arrest report.
GPD said it suspects that Herdocia and Telleria have victimized other women after meeting them at 101 Cantina and is encouraging any victims of Herdocia or Telleria, or anyone with information about their activities at 101 Cantina, to come forward.
Sexual battery victim information is held confidentially by GPD. Detectives can be reached at 393-7670.
