I am nominating Theresa Lowe. She is both The Executive Director of the Homeless Coalition, as well as the Director for the Office on Homelessness.
Category: Community Service
About Theresa Lowe
Occupation: Director for the Office on Homelessness
Years in Gainesville: 3
Spouse: Marvin Lowe
Children Elizabeth Lowe
Theresa has been working for both organizations for over 3 years now. In this period of time she has not only made a significant impact for our homeless citizens of Gainesville. She goes out of her way to make sure they know they do have people who care about their well being, and makes sure to treat them with the respect and care that all human beings deserve.
Theresa has spent countless hours working to get her latest project, Gainesville Community Innovations up and running. The project is intended to become not just a housing shelter, but also offer job training, counseling, medicinal and psychological services.
Her intentions once the project is up and running are to actually work in house at the center so she can continue working one on one with these individuals, and I as the person nominating her fully believe that she will not only succeed in this mission, but will also help Gainesville as a whole become a better place.
Sometimes the world can be a difficult place, but people like Theresa exist to remind us that there is still love and hope out there for everyone.

Theresa Lowe has been the Executive Director at the Office of Homelessness & Director for the Alachua County Coalition for the Homeless & Hungry for about three years for the Office on Homelessness. When any agency partners need anything, Theresa is quick to respond & offer help. She took over the annual Point-in-Time survey for the homeless census from Jack Donovan & didn't sleep for about 36 hours making sure everyone was counted, -that could be counted. She takes on more than humanly possible with a smile. I enjoy working with Theresa Lowe & hope that I can continue to work with her for many more!!
