Teresa is a registered Respiratory Therapist who has worked at NFRMC and currently works for a private pulmonary practice (Pulmonary Physicians of Gainesville). What makes Teresa so special is her staunch commitment to her patients' well-being. She is patient and calm when the patients are nervous and scared. I get thank you cards on her behalf from our patients on a regular basis.

Our physicians and PA-C often comment on how pleased they are with the extra dedication she applies to her role. She is tireless in dealing with home health care companies and with insurance companies. Her goal is always to ensure that patients are treated as people - with respect and concern and she keeps their health and quality of life at the forefront of all she does. She never puts off till tomorrow what can be done for someone today. No patient could ever feel that they are being ignored or pushed to the side - I am often amazed that I bring an issue to her and she immediately says "Oh yes, don't you remember? That is Mrs. so and so - she is the lady who has the cat or dog or lives in the middle of no where or whatever - her brain is a virtual font of OUR patients' information and needs. She does not limit herself to the hours of a work day - she is always striving to ensure that whatever people need, they are getting.

She is kind, she is caring, she is extraordinarily giving and gracious with the patients and her co-workers. I realize that this is not an 'employee of the month' kind of award, but in health care her job DOES improve this community. I know that if our patients were aware she'd been nominated they would rave about her virtues and would have tales to tell of how their lives are better because of her. We are so blessed to have her on our staff - she adds to the quality of so many lives that I believe she absolutely meets the Spirit of Gainesville criteria. Her dedication is superlative and she truly keeps the CARE in healthcare.

She has been with our practice for several years after performing similar duties at NFRMC. Our physicians were so impressed with her technique and 'bedside manner' that we offered her a full time position with our group. She even has patients come in on her lunch hour so she can show them how to use their equipment or their inhalers.

My physicians tell me that they hear from patients every day how much they love Teresa, how wonderful she is, how sweet she is, how she helped them do better on their breathing tests, and how grateful we should be that she works with us.

As her direct supervisor, I am honored to have such a delightful woman working for us. She always wants to do more, be better, give better service and provide top-notch care. She truly puts her patients first and we are a better practice because she is here with us. She is humble - I know she will be shocked we (our PA-C, Courtney Wilhem suggested we nominate her) have nominated her for this, but I can tell you that the people she helps go out and are productive members of our community because she supports them, because she cares for and about them.
