Whitney's work with indiegainesville continues to build a feeling of independent stores (and artists) in our community. By running a successful blog, spreading news of events--news, entertainment, new store openings, etc., with social media (all while working full time AND raising two children), she is a dedicated community activist. Her work makes it crystal clear that she believes in her community and thinks Gainesville is great--and wants to make it even greater.

About Whitney Mutch
Occupation: Accountant/paralegal/woman of all trades
Years in Gainesville: 25
Spouse: Andrew Schaer
Children: 2 (ages 6.5 and 2.5)
Indiegainesville has been around for 2 years, and it's pretty clear the entire area of Gainesville/Alachua County benfits from this work, or as she writes,"labor of love."
I cannot begin to imagine how much time goes into her work, and knowing her well, she probably uses any sick time from work to go "exploring" and find new local, independent places in town. I can't imagine her ever stopping the site--I've known her since for 17 years!
Whitney is president of a local group, is active in many political organizations, and I really just don't know how she does it. It must be a labor of love for her, to help others and fight big box/chain stores.
