A Gainesville woman was arrested late Friday night on battery, DUI and child neglect charges after she reportedly fought with her husband after drinking heavily and then drove off with their child, according to an arrest report.
Lisa Dawn Jenkins, 34, of 2835 SW 98th Drive, was arrested by the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office. She registered .163 and .157 on breath tests at the Alachua County Jail, the report states. A score of .08 is the legal standard for impairment.
Jenkins’ husband, Patrick Jenkins, called authorities about 11 p.m. to report that his wife had been drinking most of the night and had hit, punched and scratched him before leaving with their child.
A deputy responding to the scene spotted Jenkins driving, noting she made a wide turn into a shopping area where she stopped, the report states.
Jenkins appeared intoxicated and smelled of alcohol, the deputy reported. Under questioning, Jenkins reportedly told authorities she had two or three beers prior to the traffic stop and admitted to striking her husband.
