The 2013 Gator football season is upon us — and so is tailgating season. To celebrate, three Rotarians and longtime friends gather at the home of Wes and Marsha Eubank to fire up the grill for a preview of the mouthwatering game-day “TailGator Feasts” to come. In the family's outdoor kitchen, longtime friends Buddy Crevasse and Lee Pinkoson are grilling, deep-frying and simmering the “perfect” barbecue feast, much like the ones they will prepare for the die-hard Gator fans who'll join them in the weeks to come to watch the Gator games on TV — the form of “tailgating” many of us do when it's just too darned hot to be be outside.
Behind the house, the Eubanks' screened patio and outdoor kitchen is bustling with activity, and the Eubank-Crevasse-Pinkoson team already has half a dozen party dishes at different stages, along with a crowning dessert pound cake that Crevasse baked the night before. The three work side-by-side with the easy camaraderie of old friends who've done this many times before. And indeed, Crevasse guesses, “it's been about 20 years since we started cooking for Rotary charity events, and I can't even count how many times we've done it since.”
