During his visit to Florida last week for Friday Night Lights, 2015 Seffner Armwood defensive end Byron Cowart received quite the compliment from UF coach Will Muschamp.

After his workout with defensive line coach Brad Lawing, Muschamp approached the 6-foot-3, 248-pound rising junior and gave him a ringing endorsement.

“From seeing me go through drills with my size and my level of play, he was saying I could play for them now,” Cowart said. “That was crazy. Really this whole experience has been crazy.”

The craziness began for Cowart back on June 12, when he was offered by Florida and visited the school the following week.

Cowart said the early stages of his recruitment to UF were surreal.

“All this stuff has been hitting me,” he said. “When I first started getting exposure with Florida, it was crazy that a coach I see on TV is impressed with me and talks to me and my mother. He’s showing me a lot of love, and that’s why Florida is my leader. I know coach Muschamp is going to get them back to where they used to be. ”

In addition to UF, Cowart holds offers from schools such as Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Georgia and South Carolina. The ESPN150 member admits he thought about committing to the Gators at Friday’s event, but chose to hold off.

“I’m just like a kid at a candy store who sees something he likes and goes, ‘I want this.’ But when you get away from the situation, you have to sit down and think,” Cowart said. “It’s a big decision for my life, so I’m still thinking about what I want to do.”
