An Indiana resident was killed and two others seriously injured during a Wednesday night accident on Interstate 10 in Columbia County, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

Dead is Shawn E. Cobb, 36, of Fort Wayne. Taken to UF Health Shands Hospital in critical condition was Winday S. Cobb, 38, of Fort Wayne, FHP stated in a news release. Breydon Cobb, 14, was initially taken to Lake Shore Hospital in Lake City and then transferred to Shands in serious condition.

The accident occurred about 9:15 p.m. at mile marker 311. Winday Cobb was driving a 1996 GMC Yukon westbound and, for unknown reasons, left the road and rotated clockwise onto the north shoulder.

The Yukon hit a ditch that was full of rainwater and started to overturn, hitting a pine tree with its roof and stopping against the tree, FHP reported.

Shawn Cobb died at the scene. Winday Cobb was flown by helicopter to Shands.
