SOUTHWEST RANCHES, Fla. — Authorities in South Florida have confiscated two emaciated horses from an owner who said he could no longer care for them.
The Broward Sheriff's Office reports that deputies responded Monday following tips from concerned citizens in Southwest Ranches. The horses were turned over to a non-profit group called Peaceful Ridge Rescue.
Detectives are investigating, but no charges were immediately reported.
Peaceful Ridge Rescue employees named the horses — a thoroughbred mare and a gelding pony — Lucky and Tess.
