Consider Sherrod Pittman impressed.
One of the top linebackers of the 2015 class, Pittman, a 6-foot-1, 215-pound recruit from Jacksonville First Coast, said after Friday Night Lights at The Swamp that UF was now one of his top choices.
When asked if Florida has the edge, he responded with a quick “yes,” but declined to go into further detail.
“I like every school right now, so I can't really say right now,” Pittman said. “I've got to wait.”
The four-star recruit apparently won't be waiting long, announcing Sunday on Twitter that he plans to choose between Florida and South Carolina on Monday.
Pittman is in high demand, having received offers from more than 25 schools, including Florida State, Arkansas, Ohio State and Georgia.
Pittman said Friday's camp was encouraging, leaving him with positive impressions of possibly playing in Gainesville.
“I had a blast at the camp, did everything right,” Pittman said. “I had fun out there.”
Another factor aiding UF in landing Pittman is current Gator freshman linebacker Daniel McMillian. The two were teammates in high school, and Pittman said they are in frequent contact, with McMillian pushing hard for Pittman to join him.
“We'll be in contact all the time,” Pittman said. “I'll contact him all the time to see what UF is like. ... He's like ‘Florida's real straight, they take care of you and everything.' ”
