Two young men burst into a small Gainesville seafood store Monday night and robbed the owner at gunpoint, police said, striking him in the head with a handgun when he didn’t respond to commands quickly enough.
The attack began outside BJ’s Seafood, 9323 Williston Road, at around 8 p.m. when Gainesville Police say two suspects between 17 and 20 years old, accosted a store employee who was walking to the trash bin in the parking lot.
One suspect pointed a gun at the employee, who ran toward the business to warn the owner, said GPD spokeswman Sgt. Tscharna Senn.
The pair followed the employee into the store and one pointed a gun at the owner and told him to “give it up.”
The culprit hit the owner on the left side of his head, knocking him to the floor. The other suspect then stole the owner’s wrist watch.
The bandits fled with less than $100 in cash, which they grabbed from the employee. The report did not detail the injuries to the owner.
GPD is urging anyone with information regarding the robbery to contact the Criminal Investigations Division at (352) 393-7670.
