TAMPA — Authorities are investigating after an explosion at a Tampa bar.
Tampa police report getting a call around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday saying someone had "set off a bomb in the bar." An employee and a patron were inside the Radio Bar and Grill on Busch Boulevard when the explosion occurred. The patron was transported to the hospital for chest pains. He was treated and released.
The Tampa Police Department's Bomb Squad, Tampa Fire Rescue, the State Fire Marshal and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are all working on the investigation. They have determined it was a homemade crude device that damaged most of the windows, interior walls and doors and the exterior doors.
Detectives are working to determine why the bar was targeted, but they don't believe the attack was random.
