A 21-year-old Lake Butler man was arrested Saturday night after Gainesville police say he engaged in sexual activity with a 14-year-old Alachua girl.
Police say Isaac Johnson was in the backseat of a vehicle with the girl at Green Tree Park, 1901 NW 39th Ave. They were discovered about 11:30 p.m.; the park closes at 11.
The victim told police her name and provided a date of birth that would make her 17. The girl’s mother later told police that she was actually 14, according to a report.
The victim told police she and Johnson met on Facebook and arranged to meet in Alachua. The two drove to Gainesville, parked at the city park and engaged in sexual activity, police said. Police found an open condom wrapper and other evidence in the vehicle that suggested the two had sexual intercourse.
Johnson admitted to having sexual intercourse with the victim, but denied knowing she was 14. He told police he never asked her age. Johnson was booked into the Alachua County jail on a charge of lewd and lascivious battery on a person younger than 16.
