Man being sought as suspect in residential burglary

Gainesville police are searching for a man identified as a suspect in a recent residential burglary in which the culprits ran off after they were confronted by the resident with a gun.
Sought is Deontre Washington, 22, who frequents the Bo Diddley Community Plaza, St. Francis House and tent city, Officer Ben Tobias, spokesman for the Gainesville Police Department, said in a news release.
The burglary occurred on June 24 at about 4:15 p.m. in the 4000 block of Northwest Eighth Avenue. The resident told police the culprit kicked in the front door. The resident got a 9mm handgun and confronted the culprit, noticing another man standing next to him. The men ran off.
Washington is black, 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 190 pounds. He is often seen on a bike, police reported.
