MILTON, Fla. — Two people face numerous charges after deputies seized about 200 cats from a Florida Panhandle home.
Allan and Ella Kirkman of Milton were arrested Monday. They're charged with nuisance, pain and suffering and selling or letting diseased animals roam. Records did not list an attorney for the couple.
It took hours for Santa Rosa Sheriff's deputies and workers from the county's animal control services to remove the cats from the home and load them into trailers. They were taken to an animal shelter.
Animal control's interim director Dale Hamilton told the Pensacola News Journal the cats will be examined to determine the extent of their health problems.
The Kirkmans operate Kirkman Kattery Rescue from their home. Their website says they are trying to raise funds to build a facility.
