A Fort White pedestrian was killed early Friday morning when he was hit by a motorist on Columbia County Road 18, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.
Edmound M. Waller, 49, was hit at about 4:35 a.m. and died at the scene, FHP stated in a news release.
Waller was possibly kneeling or bending over in the eastbound lane when he was hit by a 2012 Nissan Versa driven by Christopher J. Lites, 30, of Fort White.
Waller was wearing dark clothing, and the area had no lighting, the report states. Lites told FHP he did not see Waller in the road, according to the report.
Lites, who stopped on the side of the road, was not injured.
