Leanetta McNealy, a member of the School Board of Alachua County, and state Rep. Clovis Watson Jr., were recognized Monday for their outstanding accomplishments during the Outstanding Democrats Awards Luncheon hosted by the Alachua County Democratic Executive Committee.

The luncheon, which was dedicated in the Memory of Matthew Marsh (1949-2013), a Gainesville resident and very active member in the Democratic Party, was held Monday at the Paramount Plaza Hotel and attended by nearly 50 residents.

Watson, who was elected in November 2012 to represent District 20 in the Florida House, received the 2012 “Harry S. Truman ‘The Buck Stops Here’ Award,” and McNealy, who was elected in November 2012 to represent District 4 on the School Board of Alachua County, received the 2012 “Eleanor Roosevelt Award.”

Alena Lawson, an investigator for the 8th Judicial Circuit Public Defender’s Office, was one of several residents who received the 2012 “Unsung Heroes Award.”
