Three teenagers who police say were caught in the act of burglarizing an occupied Lake City home Monday afternoon gained entry by kicking in a door on the side of the house, according to the Lake City Police Department.
Lake City police say they responded to a 911 call reporting a burglary in progress shortly after 3 p.m. Monday at 386 SW Camp St., where three males ages 14, 15 and 16 reportedly broke the glass on a side door of the home before kicking it in to gain entry into the residence.
The suspects were still inside the home when police arrived. Officers established a perimeter around the residence and said they observed the three teens fleeing the residence. All three juveniles were apprehended and charged with burglary and criminal mischief.
During a subsequent search of the teens, police located a marijuana pipe in the pants pocket of the 14-year old and also charged him with possession of drug paraphernalia. All three youths were transported to the Columbia County Jail.
