Florida pitcher Gibson drafted by D-backs

Pitcher Danny Gibson went 2-1 with a 4.42 ERA this season for the Gators.

Florida junior lefty reliever Danny Gibson was taken in the seventh round (210th overall) by the Arizona Diamondbacks in Major League Baseball's June Amateur draft Friday. In 32 appearances, including one start, the 6-foot-3, 220-pound Gibson went 2-1 with a 4.42 ERA.

Opponents hit .258 against him this season. Gibson is the second Gator to get picked in the June Amateur Draft. On Thursday night, junior righty starter Jonathon Crawford was taken in the first round (20th overall) by the Detroit Tigers.
