A Hawthorne resident was hospitalized with serious injuries following a Wednesday afternoon accident in Bradford County.
Taken to Shands Hospital in Gainesville was Michele Rene Hoskins, 55, the Florida Highway Patrol reported in a press release.
The accident occurred on State Road 100 about 5:05 p.m. as Hoskins, driving a 1999 Chevrolet Venture, was stopped in a private driveway facing south while a 2003 Volvo tractor-trailer driven by Ronald G. Rothenwander, 47, of Keystone Heights, was heading west on SR 100, FHP stated.
Hoskins backed into the east lane of SR 100 and then pulled forward onto the grass shoulder facing east. For unknown reasons, Hoskins accelerated and lost control, the release states.
The van crossed the travel lanes and went under the trailer. Rothenwander was not injured.
Charges are pending, the release states.
