Smoke from fires in Levy and Gilchrist counties could create dangerous conditions on several roads this morning and drivers should be cautious, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

In Gilchrist County trace amounts of smoke from a small brush fire in the area of State Road 26 and County Road 337 may affect those two roads.

In Levy County smoke from several wildfires in the area of Goethe State Forest and Lebanon Station may affect portions of state roads 24, 55 and 121, and county roads 336, 337 and 326. Other roads may also be affected, FHP stated in a press release.

Motorists are urged to use caution in these areas. Visibility may deteriorate quickly due to smoke/fog conditions especially during the nighttime and early morning hours. Drivers should reduce their speed and use low beam headlights to adapt to changing weather conditions.
