People interested in knowing their risk of stroke will have the opportunity Thursday morning at a stroke event at UF Health Shands Rehab Hospital.

The free event, from 10 a.m. until noon at the hospital at 4101 NW 89th Boulevard, will give people an opportunity to assess their stroke risk and learn about stroke research at the University of Florida as well as treatments and rehabilitation and support groups.

In addition to UF staff, more than 10 local organizations will provide materials on stroke prevention and survival.

The event is being held to highlight National Stroke Awareness month in May.
