Vine Bread & Pasta opened last week in its new location at 627 N. Main St., offering organic sourdough bread, pastries, fresh pasta to go, coffee, tea and natural sodas.
The bakery is open 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and Friday.
Teresa Zokovitch, who owns the business with baker Dean Griebel, said they wanted a location that was more accessible to the public and that had air conditioning.
The Vine started providing breads in August 2011 to local farmers' markets, Ward's Supermarket and restaurants including Tempo Bistro 2 Go, The Top, Manuel's, Wine and Cheese Gallery, Karma Cream, Civilization and Half Cork'd. The restaurant last summer opened its first retail location on Northwest 23rd Avenue.
Vine renovated the Main Street store that last housed a mobile cellular store after the community contributed $14,500 through an Indiegogo campaign.
The Copper Monkey is opening a second location in Jonesville.
Owner Rob Zeller said he is shooting for a July 8 opening of Copper Monkey West at 14209 Newberry Road to include a restaurant on one side and a sports bar with a separate entrance on the other.
The location was once home to Kazbor's Grille. The Pickled Pelican of Cedar Key had opened a second location there in May 2012. The owner changed the name earlier this year to The Bob with a different menu before closing three weeks ago. Online reviews indicate the restaurants had a problem with service and high prices.
Zeller, who lives in the area and has four children, said there is a need for a quick, family-friendly restaurant in Jonesville. He is adding steaks and pastas to the menu in addition to the same burgers, sandwiches, salads and wings at the location that has been across from the University of Florida campus since 1980.
