A young child from Mayo was hospitalized with serious injuries Thursday evening when she was hit by a driver in a private driveway, reported the Florida Highway Patrol.
Jasmine Davis, 1, was taken by helicopter to Shands at the University of Florida with injuries to her right arm and right leg, FHP stated in a press release.
The incident occurred about 6:49 p.m. at 1269 SE Lafayette County Road 405 in Mayo. Bailey Mathews, 23, was driving a 1996 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck up a private drive. Jasmine was playing near the drive as Mathews pulled into the yard.
FHP reported that Mathews failed to see Jasmine and hit her. The right front tire ran over Jasmine’s right arm and leg. No charges were filed, according to FHP.
