USF moves to winner's bracket at Gainesville Regional

South Florida advanced to Saturday winner’s bracket game of the NCAA Gainesville Regional with a 1-0 extra-inning win over Georgia Southern on Friday at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium.

Florida plays Hampton in the second game. The winners meet at 1 p.m. Saturday.

USF pitcher Lindsey Richardson pitched five innings of one-hit ball for the Bulls, and Sara Nevins (26-7) pitched three perfect innings. South Florida (44-14) scored a run in the bottom of the eighth to win it. Ashli Goff had three of USF’s four hits in the game and scored the game-winner.

Georgia Southern (32-29) plays in the elimination game Saturday.
