Local price of gas stable at $3.55 a gallon

Gas prices remained fairly stable last week, while the price of crude oil went up and down, according to AAA.

In Gainesville on Monday, the average price for a gallon of regular gasoline was stable at about $3.55, according to GasBuddy.com. In Ocala, the average price was stable at $3.49.
“Geopolitical tensions and hopeful economic news are keeping fuel prices elevated," said Jessica Brady, a spokeswoman for AAA and The Auto Club Group. “Fuel prices should be much lower based on the current state of supply and demand.”
A barrel of oil closed Friday at $96.04 on the New York Mercantile Exchange — 43 cents more than the previous week, according to AAA.
"Pump prices will likely continue the up and down price fluctuations as they have since the start of May," the brief states.
