The Gators close their regular season with a three-game series at Georgia beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday.
While Hanhold gave up four hits and struck out two, UF coach Kevin O'Sullivan had to dig deep into his bullpen to find relief after Tomscha's leadoff blast — his team-high seventh of the season. After freshman Jay Carmichael put runners on second and first to open the six, he was pulled for lefty reliever Danny Young, who promptly let Ryan Tella send a three-run shot over right field to give the Tigers a 4-0 lead. Tella's home run was just his third all season for Auburn but his second of the series against Florida's pitchers. The Gators, meanwhile, struggled to find offense on seven hits until Casey Turgeon's RBI double in the eighth inning that scored Richie Martin. Florida squandered a bases loaded opportunity later in the inning, when Josh Tobias, who hit a game-winning homer Saturday night against Auburn, grounded out to second to end the Gators' threat.
