A 30-year-old Waldo woman was charged with battery in a domestic dispute early Saturday morning involving another woman with whom she had been intimately involved, according to Alachua County sheriff's deputies.
The dispute and arrest took place at 20909 NE 132nd Ave. in Waldo, deputies said.
The Sheriff's Office gave the following account of what occurred early Saturday: According to the other woman, Sonya Renee Guest had gone to Jacksonville to see an ex-boyfriend on Friday, after which the woman told Guest that she wanted to end their relationship of 2½ years, a Sheriff's Office report said.
The woman demanded back the keys to her house, which she shared with Guest, and the two got into a physical fight for the keys.
The woman said that she grabbed Guest's purse, and went to her room and locked the door. The woman said that Guest somehow opened the door and came in with a wide-blade knife that Guest began waving at the woman. The woman said that Guest cut her on the leg as she kicked back in self-defense.
According to Guest, the woman attacked her when she got home, and that she used a karate technique to put her on the floor in a harmless way. Guest also said the woman head-butted her and bit her on the cheek. Guest admitted to using a knife to open the lock on the door, but said she dropped it as she tried to retrieve her purse.
The woman said that Guest has been violent with her in the past. Deputies said Guest was charged with simple battery and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
