Class 1A-Region 3

Who: Bronson (14-10) at Trenton (24-1)

How they got here: Trenton def. Hamilton County 12-0 in four innings in the regional semifinals; Bronson def. Melody Christian 3-1.

What's next: The winner will play the Region 1 champion, either Bratt Northview or Bonifay Holmes County, in Wednesday's state semifinals at JetBlue Park in Fort Myers at either 10 a.m. or 1 p.m.

Extra bases: This is a rematch of the District 6 final, which the host Tigers won 9-0. Trenton, which lost its regular-season final to Chiefland, broke through an 0-4 streak in playoff games with its dominating win over Hamilton County. The Tigers have three of the top hitters in the area in senior Clif Bryant (.528, 12 doubles, 4 homers, 38 RBIs), Hunter Parrish (.521, 6 doubles, 3 triples, 26 RBIs) and junior Stephen Smith (.482, 9 doubles, 27 RBIs). Senior pitcher Corbin Wiggins (1.03 ERA) and Jonathan Ward (0.31 ERA) are a combined 15-0. The visiting Eagles, in the playoffs for the first time since 2002, won their first playoff baseball game in school history by beating the Wildcats in Live Oak earlier this week. Junior Tim Gibson (8-6) threw a three-hitter against Melody Christian and also had an RBI single. He leads the team with 15 RBIs. Sophomore Ty Barber has a team-leading .371 batting average. Neither team has ever reached the state tournament.

Class 1A-Region 4

Who: Chiefland (16-7) at The Villages (15-10)

How they got here: Chiefland def. Pierson Taylor 2-1 in the regional semifinals; The Villages def. Baldwin 6-5.

What's next: The winner will play the Region 2 champion, either Panama City Bozeman or Bristol Liberty County, in Wednesday's state semifinals at JetBlue Park in Fort Myers at either 10 a.m. or 1 p.m.

Extra bases: The visiting Indians are playing in their first 1A regional final, and were previously in the playoffs in 2011 in 2A, losing to Jacksonville Providence (10-2) in the regional semifinals. Freshman Trevor Castell leads Chiefland in RBIs (24) and doubles (8) while hitting .400. Senior Tim Reidy has a team-best .472 average while senior Cole Parks is hitting .387 with 21 RBIs. Castell has a team-best 1.69 ERA as a starting pitcher with a 3-3 record. Reidy is 4-2 with a 2.44 ERA. The host Buffalo, who lost to Union County (4-0) in last year's regional final, are led offensively by junior Austin Steele (.437, 24 RBIs, 4 doubles, 5 triples) and sophomore Jack Perkins (.433, 25 RBIs.). Perkins is 7-5 on the mound with a 2.11 ERA.
