Woman, child injured in crash near Interlachen

A woman and child were hospitalized with injuries following a Wednesday afternoon crash near Interlachen in Putnam County, according to a report.
Kimberly Nowelle Cooper, 27, of Hollister, was taken to Shands at the University of Florida with serious injuries, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Brianna Cooper, 5, was taken to Shands with critical injuries, the FHP reported.
The accident occurred about 4 p.m. on West Strickland Road east of Keuka Lake Road. Cooper was driving a 1995 Honda west on Strickland Road while Whitney Kaye Spalding, 26, of San Mateo, was driving a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder east on Strickland.
Cooper began moved into the eastbound lane for unknown reasons, the report stated. Spalding slowed and tried to get Cooper's attention by blowing her horn without results.
The two collided head-on.
Spalding was treated for minor injuries at Putnam Hospital. Charges are pending, according to the report.
