An employee of an Oaks Mall frozen yogurt shop was arrested Wednesday evening on allegations she stole cash and checks from the shop and then disabled the surveillance system.
Amber Marie Rodgers, 24, of 3800 SW 34th St., Apt. K90, is accused of stealing $490 in petty cash, a cash deposit of $278 and checks from Red Mango, according to an arrest report from the Gainesville Police Department.
The report states that Red Mango surveillance from April 3 shows Rodgers taking petty cash, a cash deposit envelope and a checkbook from the safe.
"She placed the loose petty cash and envelope on a desk, and then conceals them by placing her purse on top of them," officer Derek Tirado wrote in the report. "She then stealthily takes the loose cash while lifting up her purse and conceals the loose cash, but leaves the envelope on the desk."
The video shows that Rodgers later puts some papers on top of the checkbook and envelope, picks up the items and puts them in a bag. She takes the bag and leaves the store with two other employees, one of whom is her husband.
Red Mango's owner told police the computer and surveillance system were disabled, costing about $800 to reactivate.
Police on Wednesday arrested Rodgers on charges of grand theft, scheming to defraud and tampering with evidence. The report states that charges against her husband are pending.
