A 28-year-old Williston woman died during a single-car crash while traveling on County Road 323 in Levy County Saturday night.
Teresa Elmarie Childs veered onto the grassy shoulder while headed southbound on the road also known as NE 200 Ave. around 11 p.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Childs was alone in a 1996 Pontiac when the crash occurred.
Childs' vehicle rotated counterclockwise as it drove onto the western shoulder and then skidded back across the pavement. Then the Pontiac drove onto the eastern shoulder, flipped over and struck a wire fence and tree. Childs was thrown from the vehicle, suffering fatal injuries. Authorities reported that Childs was not wearing a seatbelt.
A passing motorist reported the incident to the Levy County Sheriff's Office. The Levy County Sheriff's Office, Levy County Emergency Medical Services and Williston Fire Department responded to the scene.
