Temperatures will slowly warm this week as highs creep up to the 80s by the weekend. Showers will continue to hang over the area on Monday and Tuesday, but are expected to dry by Tuesday night.
Sunny skies are predicted early Monday alongside cool temperatures. A high of 76 is expected in the daytime hours. A 30 percent chance of showers is likely Monday night with lows in the 50s.
Tuesday will bring a 40 percent chance of showers. Temperatures will range from the high-70s to the mid-50s.
Starting Wednesday, mostly sunny skies should shine on the region. Temperatures will warm slightly to the high-80s by the end of the week. Lows will hang in the mid-60s.
Competing pressure systems in the northeast and northwest spawned the multiple days of rain last week, said National Weather Service meteorological intern Kate Guillet.
“Things just weren’t moving from the area,” Guillet said Sunday. As the pressure systems let up, Guillet predicts that drier weather will move in.
