An Old Town woman was critically injured early Thursday morning when her car collided with a truck hauling logs in Dixie County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Amy Fowler, 37, was traveling south on State Road 349 approaching NE 272nd Avenue in a 2013 Hyundai Elantra around 6 a.m. when the accident occurred.

A log truck and trailer driven by Russell D. Sween, 61, of Old Town was traveling south on SR 349 after having just turned onto the road from NE 272nd Avenue.

Fowler’s vehicle struck the rear of trailer and became lodged under it, according to the FHP.

Fowler was transported to Shands at the University of Florida with critical injuries, the report said. Sween was not injured.

Fowler was cited for careless driving and driving without a seatbelt, according to the report.
