Eastside High School sophomore Shadayzia Bullock won the Class 2A state championship in the shot put with a throw of 42 feet and 11.75 inches during the meet held Saturday at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville. Bullock said winning the state championship means a lot to her because, as a sophomore, she was competing against seniors who were trying their best to impress college scouts. Bullock also is the starting center on the Lady Rams basketball team and a four-time shot put champion at the National Junior Olympics Track & Field Championships. She is being recruited by the University of Alabama, Colorado State University, Louisiana State University, University of Florida, University of South Florida and other schools.
