County seeks advisory board members

Alachua County is looking for residents willing to serve on a county advisory board.

-- County commissioners will appoint three citizens to the Alachua County Affordable Housing Advisory Committee on Tuesday, May 28. Deadline for applications is May 14.

The committee reviews policies and procedures, ordinances, land development regulations and the comprehensive plan of Alachua County and recommends actions or initiatives to encourage affordable housing.

Being sought is one citizen actively engaged as a for-profit provider of affordable housing, one citizen representing laborers actively engaged in residential affordable housing construction, and one citizen actively engaged in the banking or mortgage industry in connection with affordable housing.

-- County commissioners are also looking for a citizen knowledgeable in labor, finance, or commerce; a citizen-at-large and an alternate to serve on Alachua County's Housing Finance Authority Advisory Board.

The board is authorized to issue tax-exempt revenue bonds to finance qualified affordable housing projects in Alachua County.
