Safety

Progress report: In an attempt to get the best players on the field, the staff moved cornerbacks Jaylen Watkins and Cody Riggs to safety, and both have performed at a high level and likely will be the starters at the two positions. They help bring great versatility to the secondary, which should be the strength of the defense. Jabari Gorman, Marcus Maye and Valdez Showers also have made plays and provided depth.

Spring surprise: Redshirt freshman Marcus Maye started standing out on the scout team last fall and he's continued to develop into a potential playmaker this spring.

Spring star: Cody Riggs has made a seamless transition from cornerback to safety.
