Ozean Media wins Pollie Award

Ozean Media was recently awarded a 2013 Pollie Award by the American Association of Political Consultants. The award recognizes the best in political communications for 2012 and was awarded for a radio commercial produced in conjunction with Push Button Productions of Orlando for Jeff Siegmeister's campaign for state attorney for the Third Judicial Circuit of Florida.

Tim Giuliani, the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce's president and CEO, recently announced that Kamal I. Latham has been selected as vice president of public policy to lead the chamber's efforts in advocating for the business community.

Gainesville2go, a local food-delivery service, recently announced that it will be giving back 1 percent of its fast-food profits to the Sebastian Ferrero Foundation, which raises funds to build a full-service, state-of-the-art children's hospital in Gainesville. The company will continue to contribute monthly.

The American Society for Engineering in Agricultural, Food and Biological Systems recently selected Barry Jacobson as the recipient of the 2013 Professional Engineer of the Year Award. In 2007, Jacobson and his wife, Elaine, founded Solar Impact Inc., a local solar-panel installation company that designs commercial and residential solar-photovoltaic and hot-water systems. Jacobson also helped develop the Watershed Assessment Model, which has become one of the leading watershed hydrologic and contaminant transport models in the world.
