A Gainesville teenager was arrested Thursday on charges related to the mugging of a woman walking home from the store, police reported.

Charles Mugmuk, 18, of 800 NW 18th Ave., was charged with robbery by sudden snatching for a March 30 incident, according to an arrest report by Gainesville police.

The robbery happened about 10:25 at 1200 NW 16th Ave. when the woman was walking home from the store and was accosted by two people, one of whom grabbed her wrist and demanded her wallet.

Police reported that as the woman resisted, one of the culprits took her wallet out of her hand. Authorities allege they ran to Mugmuk’s home and took money, an EBT card and credit cards from the wallet.

The remaining items were put in a plastic bag, which the juvenile disposed of outside.

A police dog tracked the culprits to Mugmuk’s home and also found the bag with stolen items. The arrest report states Mugmuk admitted to robbing the woman.
