A Starke elementary school teacher is being investigated for allegedly being too rough with a child.
Bradford County Schools Assistant Superintendent Lisa Prevatt said a female teacher at Southside Elementary School was placed on paid administrative leave Thursday.
Prevatt said the teacher, whose name has not yet been released, did not go to work yesterday.
"There's a lot of work to do until we make any decisions," she said.
Starke Police Capt. Barry Warren gave this account:
On Tuesday, during outdoor playtime at Southside Elementary, a teacher grabbed a student by the arm and pulled the girl toward her own teacher, who was standing nearby, another teacher said.
"The manner in which she was pulling, apparently the other teacher thought it was inappropriate," Warren said.
Starke police picked up the case Wednesday.
Warren said the school is interviewing students and faculty members who saw what happened.
The Department of Children and Families is also conducting interviews.
