Individual Competition

How they got here: Both won district titles at the No. 1 seed in singles (Wilby) and doubles (Wilby and Cribb)

Tournament starts: Today at 8 a.m., two rounds of singles, one round of doubles; Thursday: Singles team finals start at 8 a.m., followed by team doubles semifinals and finals

Eastside participants: Boys singles- No. 1 Hyunsoo Joo, No. 2 Samuel Cockey, No. 3 Camille Kima, No. 4 Maxwell Curtis, No. 5 Tabong Kima; Doubles- No. 1 Joo and Camille Kima; No. 2 Cockeyy and Derek Lee

How Rams got here: Eastside def. Dade City Pasco, 5-2 in the Region 3 finals; def. Brooksville Nature Coast 7-0 in the regional semifinals

Passing shots: This is the second straight and third in the last four years trip to state for the Rams, who under coach Dave Horner, finished sixth in 2012 and fourth in 2010 (Class 3A). Eastside last won a boys state title in 2000 (3A). Although defending state champion Pine Crest didn't make it back to state, four others besides the Rams did — Gulliver Prep (second in 2012), Ponte Vedra (3rd), Jesuit (4th) and Bishop Verot (5th).

Class 2A Girls

How Rams got here: Eastside def. Belleview 6-1 in Region 3 finals; def. Brooksville Hernando 6-1 in the regional semifinals

Passing shots: This is Eastside's first state finals berth since 2005, when the Rams tied with Lakeland George Jenkins for fourth place in Class 3A. In winning both regional matches, the Rams only lost in No. 2 doubles. Freshman Emily Louie-Meadors has not given up a game in the postseason. Tina Bassi is in her first season as coach.
