Scherer Construction of North Florida LLC recently announced that it has chosen Power Production Management as its solar contractor to install solar power at their Gainesville headquarters. Power Production Management Inc. is a full-service solar contracting firm also headquartered in Gainesville, which recently completed the solar electric system for the historic Seagle Building.

Gov. Rick Scott recently announced the appointment of Troy Hart, president of The Village in Gainesville, to serve on the Continuing Care Advisory Council. Hart, who succeeds James Emerson, has served as president of SantaFe Senior Living since 2009.

The Floor Store of Gainesville Inc., which features a full-service showroom spotlighting ceramic, stone, wood, laminate and carpet flooring and installation, recently opened at Thornebrook Village. The company is owned by Milad M. Meftah, a veteran installer for 15 years who has 12 years of retail flooring management.

Karen Gilland recently joined Normandeau Associates as principal scientist and software engineer. Gilland, who earned her doctorate in biomedical engineering from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, most recently worked for Northrop Grumman as part of the software development team for the Civil Affairs Operation System under U.S. Special Operations Command.

Naomi Whittel, founder and CEO of Reserveage Organics, will be a featured speaker at the 2013 Inc. Grow Your Company Conference. Her social responsibility-themed panel discussion is titled "How to Do Good and Make Money: Achieving Passions and (Yes!) Profits."

Henry Rabell has been named Bosshardt Realty's 2012 Realtor of the Year. Rabell also was named to the company's President's Circle, which is reserved for associates who produce more than $3.5 million in closed volume.

Shawn P. Brown was selected to participate in the National Funeral Directors Association's Meet the Mentors program, which is supported by the Funeral Service Foundation. Brown, a graduate of the Funeral Service and Mortuary Science Program at Florida State College at Jacksonville, received his funeral directing and embalming license in 2012. Brown, who is involved with the Masonic Order and Elks, also owns Synergy Design-Build & Development Group Inc.

Clay Electric Cooperative in Keystone Heights recently honored the following employees with Recognition awards: Paula Cox, office services coordinator for the Gainesville District, internal customer service category; Ed Stephens, manager of the Member Billing Division, external customer service category; and Jordan Wade, member relations representative for the Lake City District, community service category. In addition, Bootsie Richardson was honored posthumously with a Recognition Award in the Samaritan category. She had worked for the co-op for 25 years as a power system operator in the energy control center.

George F. Young Inc. recently announced that Stuart Cullen has joined its Gainesville office as vice president of engineering. Cullen, a Gainesville native, previously spent 17 years as a principal of another local civil engineering firm and is member of the Builders Association of North Central Florida

Coldwell Banker M.M. Parrish Realtors recently announced that Beau Beery and Todd Rainsberger were awarded Coldwell Banker Commercial Worldwide's Silver Distinction for gross commission dollars earned. This distinction is awarded to the top 45 associates worldwide among the thousands of agents in the network.
