A Gainesville man was arrested Monday night on a domestic battery charge on allegations he pushed his girlfriend into a television set and choked her, according to a Gainesville police arrest report.
James W. Tillery, 33, of 3600 SW 23rd St., Apt. B8, was arrested on a charge of domestic battery by strangulation and with battery for an incident that occurred on Sunday, the report states.
The woman told police that the two were arguing in front of their apartment when Tillery pushed her backward into the apartment. She hit a television, causing a crack in it and a large bruise on her arm, police reported.
Tillery left the apartment but he again argued with the woman when he returned hours later. The report states he grabbed her throat and pushed her outside by the neck. She fell to the ground and had abrasions on her knees and bruising on her neck, the report states. Her right arm was injured, and possibly fractured, police added.
Tillery, under police questioning, admitted to pushing the woman but stated he did not cause her to break the television, the report states. He also told police he was unaware she needed medical attention.
