Keyware Inc., of Tucson, Ariz., recently announced that it has completed acquisition of the assets of Cyberpatrol LLC, a Gainesville-based provider of social Internet monitoring and security systems for homes and small businesses. Keyware has changed its name to Cyberpatrol and will maintain a small office in Gainesville.
James Moore, Certified Public Accountants and Consultants, recently announced the hiring of Helen McIver and Brendan McKitrick. McIver, who was hired as a manager in the small business accounting services department, majored in computer and information sciences at UF and received a bachelor's of business administration in accounting from Kennesaw State College. McKitrick, who was hired as an associate accountant received a master's in information systems and operations management and a bachelor's of science in accounting from UF.
The Bartram apartment complex announced that it has entered into a partnership with Shands at the University of Florida and will donate a three-bedroom, two-bathroom fully furnished apartment to Shands Hospital for Children at UF. This apartment will be used to provide a home away from home for the families of infants born with congenital diaphragmatic hernia, a rare condition in which a baby is born with a hole in his or her diaphragm. The condition requires surgical repair of the diaphragm within the first few days of life.
Cox Communications recently announced the hiring of Mark Chestnut as a new media consultant for its advertising division in Central Florida. Chestnut, who served as a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps., is an advertising sales executive who brings 14 years of sales and account management experience to his position as well as 10 years as a media consultant, including various roles with the Gainesville Television Network, Naylor LLC and The Gainesville Sun.
Clay Electric Cooperative's members recently voted to elect three members to the board of trustees during the co-op's 75th annual meeting: Challenger Carl Hagglund won the the District One board of trustees elections, Jo Ann R. Smith, the incumbent trustee for District Eight, was re-elected as was Angus Hastings, incumbent trustee for District Nine. In addition, Ricky Davis, general manager and CEO, presented the co-op's annual Employee Recognition Award to Paula Cox, district office coordinator for the Gainesville district who has worked for the co-op for 21 years.
Tim Giuliani, Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce's president and CEO, announced that Deborah Bowie has been selected as vice president of chamber development. Bowie previously served as senior director of public policy and communications with the Albany (Ga.) Area Chamber of Commerce, where she managed chamber staff. Bowie also has served as chief of staff for the Office of the Mayor for the City of Birmingham, Ala., and vice president of community development at the Birmingham Regional Chamber of Commerce.
Front Street Commercial Real Estate Group announced the hiring of Caleb McDow as an associate director. McDow, who is currently pursuing a master's of science in real estate at UF and is expected to graduate in May, spent nine years in the U.S. Navy flying the F/A-18 Super Hornet after he graduated from Auburn University with a degree in business administration.
