Restaurants: Baci Ristorante offers an Italian wedding every day

Baci Ristorante opened on March 21 with a ribbon cutting ceremony that included members of the chamber of commerce.
Baci, at 12 W. University Ave., used to be Bombay Restaurant.
The menu includes items normally seen at an Italian wedding; however, the restaurant does have an a la carte menu.
The restaurant is open Tuesday through Saturday from 4 p.m. until “whenever,” said owner Peter Corsa. He said the restaurant will stay open as long as people are there and eating.
But he did say the cut-off time is about 2 a.m. “We’re here all the time,” he said.
The restaurant, which has a full-service bar, holds 120 people, while the catering hall section holds 300 people.
Corsa said the catering portion of the business is geared toward parties, wedding rehearsals, communions and all large events.
Jolie Catering, which is in the same building as Baci, is Baci’s sister company, Corsa said.
Corsa said he has been in the restaurant business for about 25 years.
Wahoo Seafood Grill
Wahoo Seafood Grill opened in early March, offering a full bar and a menu focused on fresh regional seafood.
Wahoo uses oysters from Apalachicola and Crystal River and fish from St. Augustine and Jacksonville.
The general manager of Wahoo, Shawn Shepherd, is also the owner of Vellos and used to run the 2nd Avenue Oyster House before it closed.
Other than seafood, the restaurant also offers the Beefzilla: a burger comprised of a half pound of beef plus a quarter pound of prime rib between two grilled cheeses on Texas toast.
However, there are multiple salads and gluten-free options.
Pita Republic, at 3411 SW Archer Road, closed two months ago after the business couldn’t afford to pay the high rent, said Sam Satmir, a manager at a Tampa location of Pita Republic.
He said the business is looking to relocate within Gainesville.
