Veterans Appreciation Week begins Monday at UF

Veterans Appreciation Week at the University of Florida begins with a reception from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Monday at the Reitz Union amphitheater.
The opening ceremonies will include a presentation of the colors and the UF Marching Band.
Scheduled speakers include Provost Joseph Glover, retired Maj. Gen. Dav Kratzer, and retired Lt. Gen. John LeMonyne.
The festivities continue Tuesday with the opening of the new Collegiate Veterans Success Center. An open house is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Yon Hall, Room 418.
A Student Veteran Education and Advocacy Day of workshops is scheduled for Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and a Cajun cook-off is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Sigma Alpha Epsilon House, with one-third of the proceeds going to the Collegiate Veterans Success Center.
About 1,200 veterans are among UF’s 50,000 students. About 655 receive veterans benefits.
