A Steinhatchee man who crashed his pickup truck into a utility pole caused a power outage that lasted several hours Wednesday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Travis Osteen, 19, was driving on County Road 351A about 3:40 p.m. when he lost control of a 1994 Chevrolet Silverado and hit a power pole, FHP reported in a media release.
The impact broke the pole, knocking out power to nearby homes, FHP stated.
Osteen, who was not hurt, was charged with careless driving and with having no proof of insurance.
