Correction: An earlier article about the Gainesville arrests incorrectly reported where the gun was stolen from.
Ocala police detectives are investigating a case involving three men found with a stolen gun after a drug arrest early Sunday in Gainesville and are trying to determine if the men are connected with the Ocala burglary in which the gun was taken.
The gun, a black .38-caliber revolver, was reported stolen in October from a home in northwest Ocala, according Ocala Police Department reports.
Jawoski De Onte Turner, 28, and Damien Travis Goodin, 30, both of Ocala, and Sha-heen Khayyma White, 38, of Eustis, were arrested at 3:57 a.m. as they got out of a car parked behind the All Star Sports Bar and Grill at 4251 SW 13th St., in Gainesville, according to Alachua County Sheriff’s Office reports.
A sheriff’s deputy smelled marijuana as the three men opened the car doors, report states.
The gun was found — loaded with five rounds — in a pocket behind the front seat and was covered in marijuana residue. Officers also found marijuana and a small bag of cocaine in the car. Additionally, two more bags of marijuana fell out of White’s pants, according to reports.
All three men were each charged with one count of cocaine possession, one count of grand theft of a firearm and two counts of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. Goodin and White were also charged with one count of possession of marijuana.
