FHP: No one hurt in school bus accident in Newberry

A car carrying two teenaged girls from Newberry crashed into a stopped school bus Thursday morning, according to a report. Neither the teens nor the five students on the bus were injured.

The Alachua County School bus, driven by Iris Howard, 35, of Newberry was stopped on NW 32nd Avenue at NW 162nd Court at 7:40 a.m. to pick up students, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Nishauntae Johnson 17, driving a 1996 Saturn with a 15-year-old passenger, was heading east on NW 32nd Avenue and was unable to stop before striking the rear of the bus, the report states.

Johnson was cited for careless driving, the report states.
